NCAA Division I Basketball

April 6 - The Kansas Jayhawks (33-3) have captured the 2010 Rogers Poll National Championship despite falling in the second round of the NCAA tournament to Northern Iowa. Kansas was able to hold on to the top spot due to the comfortable lead they had built over the rest of the nation during the regular season and Big XII tournament.

#2 Kentucky (35-3) also leveraged strong runs through the regular season and conference tournament to build a strong enough resume to keep them steady in the runner-up slot despite their Elite Eight loss to West Virginia.

#3 Duke (35-5) won ten straight contests to close out the season and capture the NCAA National Championship. #4 Syracuse (30-5), like Kansas, Kentucky, and Duke, was a top seed in the tournament. The Orange slipped up in the Sweet Sixteen against #5 Butler (33-5), who won 25 straight games to make it to the NCAA championship game where they fell just 2 points shy of Duke.

#6 West Virginia (31-7), #7 New Mexico (30-5), #8 Northern Iowa (30-5), #9 Purdue (29-6), and #10 Kansas State (29-8) round out the top ten.

The remaining Top 25 are: Temple, BYU, Baylor, St. Mary's, Ohio State, Tennessee, Cornell, Villanova, Michigan State, UTEP, Murray State, Xavier, Gonzaga, Siena, and Pittsburgh.

In all, the Big East led the way with 4 teams in the Top 25. Big Ten and Big XII teams appeared 3 times. The SEC, Mountain West, A-10, and WCC each placed two teams. Seven other leagues had a representative.
